My Big Fat Greek-Armenian Fairytale Wedding
I can’t say that I’ve dreamed about my wedding day since I was a little girl. But over the years when I realised that I had truly found my soulmate Peter, I simply couldn’t wait for our BIG day to come!
If you want to know about how Peter proposed, you can find it here on How He Asked.
There are endless hours that go into planning a wedding. From finding and choosing the perfect vendors to small details like perfecting a bow. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome of our day. I can truly say that our day was perfect and that we had our fairytale wedding. Being surrounded with so much love and happiness is the greatest feeling on earth! A big thank you goes out to our family and friends, you made our day memorable and a memory we will cherish forever. I also want to thank all our vendors for helping us create the night we dreamed of. I hope you enjoy this gallery and video of our favourite day along with details regarding our vendors.
The Dress: I must say that I had a blast dress shopping that I almost didn’t want to choose my dress because I didn’t want it to end. I know some of you might think that sounds crazy but every dress is beautiful and unique in it’s own way, so I fell in love with so many! But my dress is literally the one that stole my heart.
“Being a fashion lover, it was so important for my dress to be one of a kind, something completely different”.
When I walked in Boutique Ivoire, I spotted this HUGE blush skirt.. I looked at my best friend Mick and he said “That’s it, it’s going to be THE ONE”. Let alone he was right and yes, you guys read that right, it was just a blush skirt. My “dress” is what we call bridal separates, so I chose my skirt and chose a top to compliment my skirt. We customized the top to give it that low plunge that I love. I was obsessed with the details of the back of my top. My experience at Ivoire couldn’t have been more perfect, thanks to Rina who was an angel throughout all my fittings and a pure joy to be around. I thank you so much for that wonderful experience that I will cherish forever!
The Shoes: I can’t begin to explain how comfortable these Badgley Mischka heels were! What I loved most, is that I was able of ordering my shoes with the option of a wide foot. I had them on until 2am and I only took them off so that I can wear my Glitter Kate Spade Keds.
The Suit: Now it was Peter’s turn and I must say that he appreciates fashion quiet a bit. He already had in mind what he wanted for his suit, a navy suit with black lapels. He headed over to SURMESURE, where he chose every single detail, from the type of pockets, to the fabric, buttons and stitching. They really take the time to help you perfect and realise the suit that will fit you like a glove, even if that means multiple fittings. Peter was extremely happy with the outcome of his tailored suit.
Wedding Invites: Our theme was a fairy tale wedding, so for our wedding invitations I had the idea of a scroll. After days of researching I found the perfect website called Indian Wedding Card. I was sceptical and nervous at first, because everything was done online with a retailer in India. However, once I received the samples, I was beyond excited and happy with our choice. Definitely check them out and prices are very reasonable with quick shipping!
The Hair: Meet Stepania! She’s awesome and she perfected my hair to exactly the way I had envisioned it! It lasted me all day through the hot sunny day all the way till 3 am when the dancing stopped. My sister aka Maid of honour (to my right) , Mom & Eleni aka Bridesmaid (to my left) from Greece were so happy with their hair!
The Make up: I have no words when it comes to Alice. She has been doing my make up for quiet some time and I literally trust her with my eyes closed. She really listens to what you want and gives you that flawless look in no time.
The Make up: Maria by MG Studio did my sister (to my left), mom and bridesmaid Eleni’s make up (to my right), and they were so happy with the final look and how they looked flawless all night long!
The Girls: I loved these floral robes that I got for the girls to wear while we got ready in the morning. For their dresses, I gave the girls “carte blanche” to find and choose their dress. My only criteria was that they wear a white dress. They complimented my blush wedding dress so nicely! I absolutely love that idea because they got to choose something they would be comfortable in and that fit their style.
The Guys: We decided to buy the guys suits from Zara instead of renting suits. It was a win-win, because they all love Zara suits and they get to keep them after! How good do they look?!
The Church: We got married in a Greek Orthodox Church where the ceremony lasts about 45 min to an hour. The ceremony was done mostly in English and some Greek. Even though we’ve been together for 8 years now, I still don’t speak it… I know, I know… Hopefully one day!! The Priest, father Lambros is beyond words. He truly explained the sacrament of marriage. About how we become one flesh, one body, and that we officially become one.
The Photographer: Paul Doumit is so funny and pleasant to have around! I love taking pictures and believe that pictures are worth one thousand words! Thank you for capturing moments we will cherish forever!
The Videographer: I love watching wedding videos, it’s one of my favourite pastimes and yes most times my eyes get watery. Long before we got married, I knew that our videographer would be Paul from Siounis. We didn’t even visit any other videographers. He is so sweet and I love his work. His team is also great! A shout out to Adrien, who makes filming the day a breeze and fun!! Thank you for capturing our wedding day. You can find our highlight film below.
The Flowers: Manny from Luluthia was our florist. Our reception hall looked spectacular with our choice of florals, which included dendrobium orchid blooms and curly willows. It completed our fairy tale wedding.
The DJ: Marco Ferri Entertainment, was our DJ. All I wanted was for everyone to be on the dance floor with us! Our crowd was a mix and literally everyone was on the dance floor with us! Just like I had hopped, and the dancing didn’t stop until we had to stop the party. They also took care of our lighting, which makes all the difference.
The Venue: The first wedding I ever attended with Peter was at Crown Plaza also known as Plaza Volare (back in 2009). I always loved this reception hall and our wedding coordinator Peggy is a gem. Thanks to her, we had nothing to worry about and all of our expectations were met. From cocktail hour to the midnight table, the food was excellent and the staff was great!
